Will a 2500watt generator run my amps?

I have Ashley an sra 2075, ftx 1501, and ftx 2001 with a preamp and 2 Behringer's an ultradrive and ultracurve.
The generator is rated for 2500 115 vAC. I'm not real sure if its putting out a clean 60 hertz. Any prosound advice would be a appreciated. Been almost 4 days since I fired up the rack and FPL is moving really slow and I want to kick out the jams brothers and sisters.

It isn't really whether the Genny can run the rack but could it harm my processo or amps

Let 'er rip Phil. those amps won't care as long as it's somethign reasonably above 105 volts and 50hz. Processing gear might be a bit more fussy about minimum voltage. Frequency isn't a big deal as long as it's close to 60, you;re not trying to cue records to a beat counter or dub tape, right?

Power big loads like the bigger amps up one at a time giving the generator and power supplies time to stabilize. Those bigger amps will make the generator grunt for a few cycles when you power em on.

Worst case will be some alternator whine from the genset thru source/signal gear, some kind of magical power strip might help, a UPS or isolation rig would for sure.

Think about it, our grid power in many places is not much better than a small generator.

Anybody that owns a generator should have one of these:

Heck if you use AC line voltage for anything, you should have one of these:



It will read voltage, frequency, and current.

Your generator will have an easily accessible governor adjustment, get your load energized and running, then final adjust frequency to 60 hz.

You can also just wing it by setting your generator speed to 61-63 hz un-loaded expecting that the operating load will slow it down to ~60

Don't worry about the voltage, it's fixed and calculated such that when there's no load, it's going to read a little high, it will drop as you add load, and unless the generator has electronic voltage regulation there's nothing you can do about that fluctuation. It's the nature of small portable generators.

I have a 15KW ST head that i turn with a 32HP slow speed stationary diesel engine, i use kill a watt to set my speed. The ST is an 1800RPM(precisely) head and they say if you over-speed it above 1950, the windings will come apart on the armature................. explosively.

While power wise that is OK, cheap generators can fry gear. Try to find out what waveform the generator puts out. If it's sine wave all is cool. Modified sine wave, maybe not.

And square wave, as in cheap inverter generators, is right out.

damn straight its a Honda. also I'm running it thru a Tripp lite isobar. I'm not seeing the 60/120/240hz bumps on the RTA graph i see with the regular line supply. looking good.
my brother down the block has a "hecho en chino" from harbor freight I can hear that beast in my front yard.
